Our Staff
Dawn Wisniewski - Youth Minister

After graduating from the University of Florida, and moving to South Carolina with my husband, I began my career as a volunteer at Lexington Church of Christ almost 20 years ago, working with the Middle School teens, leading small group bible studies in my home, and teaching classes on Sundays and Wednesdays at church. In 2009 I accepted an official position as Part-time Youth Coordinator, and began working with the staff to coordinate church-wide events for the entire family in addition to youth functions. In 2012 God opened the door for me to go back to school and begin working on a 30 hour Master of Arts in Christian Practice with a Certificate in Youth and Family Ministry from Lipscomb University. In 2015 I became a Full-time Youth Minister and in December 2016 I completed my Certificate in Youth and Family Ministry, and decided to extend my Masters to a 72 hour Master of Divinity.

Dr. Karen Close

The counseling ministry at the Lexington Church of Christ is led by Karen Close who has a passion to help make the church a safe place for those struggling with life challenges. Karen has been married for over 40 years to the love of her life, Jack. She has three married children and eight grandchildren that she says is her greatest accomplishment. In addition, Karen has a, B.A. in Ministry from Canada; M.A in Pastoral counseling and M.A. in Christian Education from Columbia International University; D.Min. in Marriage and Family Systems from Palmer Theological Seminary, Philadelphia, PA. Karen is also trained in Critical Incident Stress Debriefing and is a member of the American Association of Christian Counselors. She is a part-time Pastoral Counselor at the Lexington Church of Christ, 101 Ballpark Road, and is a resident member of the faculty at Columbia International University.

Pastoral counseling integrates psychology with God’s word and His wisdom and does not deal with the diagnosis of mental health issues. Karen specializes in a family systems approach and provides individual, pre-marital, marriage, divorced and blended family counseling.

Fees are in the form of a donation to the Lexington Church of Christ counseling ministry after each session.

Lauren Brannan

My name is Lauren Brannan. I have a wonderful husband, Rob, and we have two beautiful daughters, Addyson and Avery. I have lived in Lexington almost all of my life, I grew up very active in church, and I have been attending and volunteering here at Lexington Church of Christ since 2009.

It is my privilege to serve the Lord as the leader over the children’s ministry. After graduating with honors from The University South Carolina with a degree in Elementary Education, I began teaching 6th grade ELA nearby. I have since been using my knowledge and passion for children's ministry in our church and recently joined the staff.

Our desire is that each child will come to know the amazing love of God in his/her life. We want to partner with parents to help these kids become solid in their relationship with Jesus Christ. If you ever have any questions for me, please feel free to contact me any time.
